Among the things I most remember, one easily stands out: your long arms, always braceleted with stunning bangles that clinked together when you spoke. Your voice is unmistakable and sonorous — it is downright impossible to miss you in any space you grace. People are easily drawn to you and your ability to command an audience, big or small. Around you, large spaces often became small when you entered … your strident walk, a trait you share with your entire family.

I can’t believe you are gone.

As a child, I circled your waters, too shy to approach you, but eager to be worthy of your attention. Mostly I remember your easy elegance, independence, and the perfectly interwoven bond you shared with your son and daughter, mother, siblings and father.

Time stopped when I was told of your passing. I will miss you M.
